How Do I Read An AIRMAN® Parts Catalog?
A simple guide to understanding reference numbers, part numbers, interchangeability, serial breaks, and order details.
AIRMAN® parts catalogs are designed to help you quickly identify the correct replacement components for your machine. Each catalog includes illustrations, reference numbers, part numbers, serial ranges, and notes that ensure you select the right parts for your specific model.
Start by locating the reference number in the exploded diagram. Reference numbers show the position of each part in the illustration and indicate whether a component has been modified. A reference like “1-1” or “1-2” shows that the part has undergone revisions.
Each reference number corresponds to a part number, which is the unique identifier used for ordering. Parts that look similar are not always interchangeable, so the interchangeability column helps determine whether a new part can replace an older one, whether a part has been discontinued, or whether components are compatible.
The part name remains consistent even when reference or part numbers change. The Q’ty column indicates how many of each part are used on the machine, which is especially important for fasteners, hoses, clamps, and hardware.
The applicable serial number column verifies which parts match your machine. Serial number breaks indicate when AIRMAN® updated or modified components. A tilde (~) before or after a number shows whether earlier or later serials are included.
The change column uses codes beginning with “M” to identify part updates. These codes correspond to a list at the beginning of the catalog.
The remarks section includes additional helpful information such as included sub-parts, engine manufacturer part numbers, or special specifications.
Use the contents page as a quick reference to locate major assemblies and navigate the catalog more efficiently.
